Love Your Teachers

The headteacher Anna Sobala-Zbroszczyk began the end-of-school-year ceremony with a mental journey to Abkhazia and by quoting proverbs from this country, which formally belongs to Georgia. These proverbs highlight simple yet valuable truths in everyone’s life: that we should be mindful to try to see the world from different perspectives; that it’s worth learning simply to know more rather than less; that it’s good to maintain peace of mind for ourselves and those around us; and that it’s valuable to be prudent— that is, to anticipate the consequences of one’s actions, that one cannot work  without rest, but rest without work brings no satisfaction, and that only a fool hates his teacher. The  Coordinator Tomasz Mazur addressed the topic of perspective and presented his view of holiday time as the pursuit of a laborious project of rest. The coordinator expressed his sympathy for the hardships and physical exertions involved in summer travel  and wished everyone success in their mission to regenerate body and mind—a mission to recharge their mental and physical batteries.

Next, the headteacher, visibly moved, thanked the long-serving teachers who were retiring: Małgorzata Adamek and Switłana Kiszko. Addressing Małgosia Adamek, who was present at the ceremony, she said, “Gosia, you were an outstanding teacher,” and assured her that retirement is a step forward.

After the farewell, it was time to recognize special achievements and commendable behavior. 

The homeroom teachers for the first-year classes presented awards in three categories: for the most helpful person—Jan; for the most optimistic person— joint to Wiktor, Małgosia, Szymon, and Natalia; and for the person with the best chance of becoming the president—Natalia.

Mateusz Pencuła and Wojciech Milej recognized Antoni for his fantastic performance in TOK bingo.

Franciszek Fijałkowski-Wojciechowski presented the audience choice award and the award for the best presentation as part of the Collaborative Science Project.

Piotr Morawiecki and Pankajkumar Joshi thanked the teams from the Space and Engineering Program for their outstanding performance: Hello Space, which reached the stratosphere of their dreams, Hello Space Neptun, and the team participating in the StemRacing competition, which took third place, built the fastest car, and qualified for the world finals in Singapore.

On behalf of Sławomir Jagiełło, the Director presented awards to all those who completed the Calculus course and the classes on the theory of relativity.

Aleksandra Grudzińska and Katarzyna Gągol presented the awards in the arts category. The student artists were recognized for their participation in Zachęta’s workshops on curatorial practice. In addition, Marcjanna received special thanks for her composure and clear thinking during a difficult situation on a  trip to Berlin.

The Polish language teachers presented awards for outstanding literary works in the school’s literary session: for the creative works by Natalia and Alicja, and for the essay.

Tomasz Lechowski recognized two groups of students: Basia, Tosia, and Matylda, and Viktor, Iga, and Mateusz, who tied for first place in the competition held during Pi Day.

Wojciech Świątek presented medals to the winners of first (Antoni and Jan), second (Adam and Hubert), and third place (Aleksander and Mikołaj) in the badminton tournament, as well as to the DP1 team for taking first place and the pre-DP1 team for taking second place in the picnic soccer tournament.
