Tutoring

What is it?

It is a method of an individual care for the student, based on the master-disciple relationship, which, thanks to an integral view of human development, strives for the full development of their potential. To put it briefly: it is an inspiring relationship with another person. It is very difficult to develop without an inspiring relationship. At our school you have the opportunity to meet people who will be able to help you achieve your personal goals and dreams in a committed way!

Whom is it for?

For everyone who wants to develop. For everyone who likes challenges. For all those who don’t know what to do with themselves but would like to.

How to take part?

Choose your Tutor and contact her/ him or contact the program coordinator who will help you choose the right person to be your Tutor.

Coordinator

Agnieszka Kucińska

Counsellor

She is  a counsellor counsellor, psychologist and psychotherapist, currently applying for the PTP and PTIPDiES SI certificates. She has been working at 2 SLO since 2005 and each year she rediscovers the unique atmosphere of this school and the potential of the people who create it. She couldn’t do what she does if it weren’t for her insatiable curiosity about other people. Irvin D. Yalom (her current guru) claims that Nietzsche […] reportedly said that the first time you meet someone you know everything about them, but with subsequent encounters you become further and further away from your first insight. Agnieszka Kucińska has the impression that this is exactly what her work at school is all about – looking for further insights into the situation and complicated personality of the student, which often becomes an extraordinary adventure for both of them.

Słowo od tutora:

How your life feels is more important than how it looks.

I invite anyone who needs to talk about their plans and concerns regarding educational choices to join me for a personal development session. Or anyone who feels the need for change in any area of personal growth that requires empathetic support, a push forward, and the ability to turn dreams into bold action.

I believe that in order to identify our needs and trust our own voice, we sometimes need the support of another person who, by recognizing our potential, will motivate us to consciously follow our own path. Tutoring helps channel our energy toward what allows us to grow and what aligns with our beliefs and values.

During our tutoring sessions, we will work toward helping you:

– define your own goals and set priorities for action

– recognize your strengths and articulate your dreams

– gain confidence by identifying directions that align with your authentic interests

– make an independent decision regarding your own path of development, free from external pressure

– improve relationships with the people you care about

… or discuss any other topic you wish to address.

Słowo od tutora:

Dear Friends!

I invite you to both personal development and academic tutoring sessions.

Personal development tutoring is for you if you want to take a closer look at your strengths, feel uncertain about choosing your advanced course options, or have an overwhelming sense of confusion and anxiety; or maybe you just want to meet up and safely share what’s currently going on in your life?

I conduct academic tutoring in English. It’s designed to boost your confidence in public speaking and help you create texts you don’t write in class. We can also work on whatever interests you in English and is in any way related to the English-speaking world (music, fashion, social issues, poetry—you name it!).

I’m passionate about art history, so I’d love to explore with you what moves you in art, or what you’d like to delve into and discover.

You can learn more about me, both as a person and as a teacher, on the IB homepage.

See you soon! 🙂

Słowo od tutora:

I am indebted to my father for living, but to my teacher for living well – Alexander the Great.

According to legend, the ruler of one of the greatest empires of antiquity—Alexander the Great—is said to have fondly recalled his private tutor with these words. That tutor was the philosopher Aristotle, who instilled in the young Macedonian a sensitivity and curiosity toward the world and his fellow human beings. When, at the age of 13, Alexander was strolling within the walls of the Macedonian city of Mieza, he encountered information on medicine, philosophy, religion, logic, and art for the first time. Fascinated by the possibilities and prospects that knowledge offered, he sought to benefit from Aristotle’s guidance in a unique way. Ultimately, what shaped the character of the future leader was the Greek philosopher-teacher’s individual approach to education—tailoring lessons, readings, and problems to the needs of the future conqueror of the world. Continuing the classical method of adapting to the personal needs of each student, I cordially invite all 2SLO students to developmental or academic tutoring sessions, where we will work on the student’s individual needs. These sessions take place primarily in an atmosphere of openness, understanding, and empathy.

Consider whether you need help with:

  • Choosing your future educational path;
  • Understanding and finding your role in society;
  • Setting goals and priorities;
  • Discovering interests that will give meaning to the monotony of everyday life;
  • Balancing school responsibilities and personal life;
  • Learning different ways to study effectively;
  • Building self-confidence and belief in your abilities;
  • Discovering your strengths or simply…

…if you feel like you don’t know what you want to do and think (completely wrongly!) that “you’re not cut out for anything,” then developmental tutoring will be a great starting point for you.

If, on the other hand, you’re primarily interested in learning and want to work together to:

  • Understand how the education system works in Poland and abroad—whether you’re interested in biology, math, history, or philosophy;
  • Find out what it really means to “study” a subject;
  • Use learning in such a way that it becomes a way to spend your free time, a kind of hobby, or perhaps even a way of life;
  • Study abroad and not lose your mind;
  • Plan and write an article or essay ready for publication;
  • Create a list of books, readings, and texts that are important to you, and learn to read them with passion and insight—this…

…academic tutoring will be the best possible choice. Regardless of what type of collaboration you decide on, remember that the sessions are designed to help you develop your skills, character, and perspective on the modern world. I’m already looking forward to our meetings together!

Słowo od tutora:

An optimist faces just as many setbacks and tragedies in life as a pessimist,

but an optimist copes with them better.

Martin Seligman, the “father” of positive psychology

Do you ever find that you put a lot of effort into studying, but the results don’t bring you satisfaction? Do you ever feel like you can’t bring yourself to get out of bed at the thought of going to school? Do you find that meeting up with friends brings no joy, your body feels heavy and tired, the daily routine weighs you down, and you’d rather hide away in your own solitude because you feel like no one understands you? Or maybe you feel like you don’t always understand yourself very well?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, meeting with me can help you. If you want to:

  • discover and experience how enjoyable and effective learning can be;
  • identify your learning style, as well as your strengths and challenges in learning;
  • gain control over your learning process and its effectiveness;
  • take care of your body and brain to improve your concentration and perseverance;
  • plan your learning process, set educational goals, and consciously consider your academic path;
  • develop a positive attitude toward learning in the spirit of positive psychology;
  • learn how to nurture your mental resilience and restore your emotional balance on your own after challenging life experiences;
  • discover how to build and maintain supportive relationships with others

— then I invite you to join.

We will talk, reflect, do exercises, and discuss—all to help you increase your self-awareness and boost your sense of happiness in everyday life.

The sessions take place in a series of eight 60-minute sessions every two weeks. Contact: jraczkowska@2slo.pl or via Librus.
