An Expedition to Normandy
In early spring, after the snow had melted (March 22–April 1), a group of 18 students from 2nd Jasienica SLO High School and 10 from Tadeusz Czacki High School, accompanied by Grażyna Bogusławska, Delphine Wartelle, and Paweł Wołowski, set off on a trip to Normandy to spend time with students of the high school in Saint-Lô, a school that has been partnering with 2nd Jasienica SLO High School for over 20 years. It was wonderful: a warm welcome from French host families, the beautiful landscapes of the so-called bocages (fields and meadows divided by stone fences), a few Gothic cathedrals, the spectacular Mont Saint-Michel with its thousand-year-old Benedictine monastic tradition and, of course, conversations with our French corres (partners, correspondents), celebrating birthdays together by making crepes—Norman-style, of course. To top it all off, a walk along the beautiful cliffs of the Cotentin Peninsula, with views of the Atlantic Ocean and seals basking in the sun. What more could you ask for?
