In the Lake and in the Forest
From May 6–9, students from the DP1 classes taking extended biology went on a nature expedition called “Snail Trip.” On Wednesday, after the 6th period, they departed from the central station by train to Olsztyn, then traveled by minibus to the center in Kołatka. Despite the cold weather, they managed to enter the lake twice to collect snails and mussels, thereby calculating the populations of these organisms in the lake. Throughout their stay, they were also accompanied by other kinds of creatures: from swans to dragonfly larvae. They also had workshops in the forest, during which they counted the populations of selected plants in the area. On Saturday, after breakfast, it was time to head back. Everyone returned extremely satisfied, though some were a bit under the weather.
