PyroSat 2025
The PyroSat team, composed of DP1 students under the supervision of mathematics teacher Oskar Sobiecki, is taking part in this year’s edition of the CanSat competition organized by the European Space Agency.
The goal of each team is to build a mini-satellite, which will then be sent to an altitude of approximately 2 km during the competition finals and, while falling by parachute, it will perform two missions: a basic and an additional one. The basic mission is common to all teams and involves measuring temperature and pressure and sending them via radio to a ground station. Determining the goal of the additional mission is the individual task of each team. In the case of the PyroSat team, this will involve mapping fires and assessing the risk of their spread in particular directions. Such technology could potentially be very useful to firefighters.
Currently, the team is at the stage of testing individual components and developing the first prototype in order to qualify for the national finals, which will take place in April 2025.
