“I Do Not Button Up My Overalls…”*

Eliza Kącka’s autobiographical book is much more than a story about family, about the bond with her daughter, about the experience of being the mother of a child on the spectrum. Kącka takes us to the epicenter of the struggle for a dignified existence.  Through the author’s eyes we watch the extraordinary everyday life of homes in Lidzbark Warmiński, Toruń, and Warsaw, and listen to ruthless opinions and advice from experts or “valuable” comments from kind-hearted people. The virtuoso writer uses a fascinating language of imagination to create a unique composition of pictures permeated with heroic acceptance of life as it is. You are invited to the library in Solec to borrow the book.

An adaptation of the work can be seen on the stage of the Teatr Dramatyczny, directed by Anna Augustynowicz.
