Gąsienicowa Hall in Winter
The third weekend in March, a group of eleven students from the Mountain Club 2SLO, under the care of Ania Brymora and Paweł Kubalski, spent in the Tatra Mountains. They started their Saturday trek in Kuźnice, and then through Boczań, Skupniów, Upłaz and Karczmisko they reached Gąsienicowa Hall, where a surprise prepared by the guide was waiting for them – a short avalanche training with instructions on how to use the probe and avalanche beacon. At Czarny Staw Gąsienicowy, it was time to relax and admire the views of the frozen Tatra lake in a beautiful winter setting. The rock ridge covered with snow and the surface of the lake shimmered with shades of blue and white in the glare of the sharp, warm March sun, which in the lowlands was already illuminating the first signs of spring. The way back to the base led along a forest trail to Brzeziny. In the evening, traditionally, there were a lot of conversations, laughter and a meal at the common table. After dinner, Paweł Kubalski told about his participation in the first winter expedition in 1988 to K2 – the second peak of the Earth in the Karakoram Mountains.
On Sunday morning some people managed to go skiing in Małe Ciche. All in all, it was another fantastic trip with a great atmosphere. The weather, the views, the sense of humor were perfect…. Soon it’s time for another meeting with the Tatra Mountains
