Each Component Has its Moods…

…sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. We need to gain experience. With this reflection, the day-long presentation of the results of the work of the Collaborative Science Project of DP1 students began on 17 March.

A total of sixteen groups talked about building mini satellites for collecting data, for example for mapping fires and assessing the risk of their spread, about the negative effects of drinking processed beverages on the bone structure of teeth, about the need to wash fruit with baking soda as the most effective way to prevent contamination with e. coli or salmomella, about the idea of roofing, white in summer (cooling the building during exposure to the sun) and black in winter (saving heating energy), about the construction of a small, inexpensive wind turbine to generate electricity even at low wind speeds, about the idea of installing solar panels on the roof of 2 SLO, about the need for daily disinfection of the mobile phone, about the unsatisfactory air quality and temperature in a sample classroom and solving the problem with fans and a humidifier, about the idea of more efficient lighting in the school, which the students showed increases the level of students’ attention throughout the lesson, improves performance in tests on their cognitive function, and lowers distraction rates. In addition, several teams addressed water quality and urged for drinking tap water with a filter instead of buying bottled water, for  the need to reduce phosphorus levels in water in the local environment, for  the idea of using a simple filter – a bottle full of sand and gravel to filter water that is contaminated due to the condition of the installation. The best presentations and posters will be awarded.
