Another Pogoria Cruise around the Mediterranean Sea
At the end of January this year, a group of almost forty students and teachers of 2nd SLO Jasienica High School from Nowowiejska and Solec embarked on another training cruise in the school’s history on the Polish sailing ship STS Pogoria. This time the Mediterranean itinerary led from Nice to Genoa.
The week spent on Pogoria’s board was full of beautiful sights, learning the basics of sailing (including navigation), having fun, but also watches requiring getting up at night regardless of the weather conditions. Thanks to the captain, officers, petty officer, mechanic Darek and cook Sylwester, working on the Pogoria was a great lesson in responsibility and…punctuality, and the atmosphere and the tasks assigned were conducive to integration among the students.
Fortunately, after hours of sailing and a lot of exertion, it was also possible to rest ashore and take advantage of the good weather during a stopover in Portoferraio on Elba and then around Portofino. The cruise ended in Genoa, rainy that day, everyone was tired but happy. The next Pogoria cruise will be in December 2025.
