2SLO the Best High School at the Winter Games in Zakopane

After a two-year break caused by the pandemic, students of our school once again took part in the Winter Games of Independent Schools in Zakopane. For four days, they competed with many high schools from all over Poland, participated in training sessions, and above all had a nice time, combining sports competition with other pleasures. They started their sports struggles on Tuesday, February 28, with cross-country skiing. Many participants were surprised by the distance of the run – only three hundred meters, so the differences in time results were only hundredths of a second. This did not stand in the way of our brave competitors and we took the first five places in the women’s category, and the second, third and fourth place in the men’s category.

The next day of the competition was also a great challenge, there was a speed skating competition on the track in Nowy Targ. Despite the great competition, we managed to get the first four places in the women’s category and the fourth and fifth places in the men’s category.

On Thursday, the time has come for the most awaited element of the Olympics – downhill skiing. High school students competed in Suchy, beating a specially prepared giant slalom. In this competition, girls from our school completely broke their age category, taking as many as six first places. The boys also did well, finishing third and fifth.

At the end of the Games, just before the decoration ceremony, the students of the Dwójka showed their snowboarding skills, taking third, fourth and fifth place in the women’s category and sixth in the men’s category.

Many great results in individual competitions have led our athletes to excellent results in the summary of all competitions. The first five places in the women’s category were, of course, taken by our students.

The best girl – competitor of the Games in the high school category was Zosia S., the vice-champion was Basia K., and the third place was taken by Julka W.

Special congratulations should also be given to Wojciech M., who became the third best boy – competitor of the Gamess.

So many great results made our 2SLO high school THE BEST HIGH SCHOOL at the XXVI Winter Games of Independent Schools in Zakopane.
